the form of Cramlington Town. Quick players with, fast feet and a desire to run with the ball at our backline providing a new challenge for the girls to learn to deal with.

Initially we struggled to recognise the space and opportunity that playing on a larger 9v9 pitch afford us;

Playing short passes when space lay in the channels,
Moving towards the ball and compacting space rather than opening out and stretching play
Tracking the player and the ball rather than recovering quickly taking the fastest/direct route back to goal.

As the game progressed we started to work more as a unit, sliding across to deny space and apply early pressure.

Chloe opened the scoring with a nice goal, opening her body to curl the ball past the keeper in to the far corner. Ruby added a second late in the second after a great run to break the line. Power created a number of good chances combining to break the line and drive at goal, unfortunately the final ball not quite finding its intended target.

Charlotte was strong in her defensive responsibility coming to claim the ball and distributing the ball well. Katie Merrey was awesome driving out with the ball and showing great determination her defending. Well Done Girls - every game a learning opportunity to improve
