Today provided a great opportunity for the Girls to have a run out against strong U12’s opposition before the Saturday league campaign recommenced in a weeks time. Undefeated by the weather and aftermath of storm Dennis the Girls were keen to make a storm all of their own and blow away the visiting Magpies.

Despite some exciting and creative play in the early parts of the game the Girls couldn’t quite open the scoring, hitting the bar, or forcing the save from the goal keeper. A strong resilient Felling looked to match the girls with their intensity of play and organisation.

As the game advanced the girls started to combine better and break down the opposition lines to create chances and pressure the backline. Once again Miley popped up on cue to score what is becoming her trade mark GOAL!! - a blistering sprint to get in front of her marker and arrive right on cue at the far post to smash home the ball as it flashed across the box. Phoebe and Meadow were alert alive and direct with their play, both girls getting a brace of goals (2) just reward for some fast penetrative attacking play and skilful footwork. Maisie and Katie played some great football through the centre, winning the ball before calmly picking the right pace, right pace and perfect delivery. Nuala and Sienna looked to attack from the wide angles, creating options with well timed runs that took the ball beyond the opposition before putting in a quality cross that offered a shooting opportunity and contributed to GOALS!!. Issy and Emily were strong confident and purposeful at the back and played some quick intelligent play to get the girls advancing forward. When the picture allowed they took a touch to move the ball and either progress forward in possession or play a long deliberate ball forward to start the counterattack. Evie’s starting position was great - ensuring she progressed up the pitch as play advanced and closed the angle to deny the opposition forward. Her confidence to close down the play outside her box and clear the lines with her feet a great addition to her game.

Lola and Daisy joined the girls today as a reward for their contribution, attitude and performance at training. Both girls contributed well to the overall team play and looked accomplished playing alongside the girls - Well Done Everyone!
